What is a Personal Licence?

Steps to Obtain Your APLH Personal Licence
Step 1: Meet Eligibility Requirements
- Age : Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Criminal Record : Have no unspent convictions for relevant offences.
- Right to Work : Provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
Step 2: Complete Accredited Training
Achieve the Highfield Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (RQF) qualification. This course provides:
- Knowledge of licensing law and responsibilities.
- Guidance on protecting children on licensed premises.
- Training on alcohol safety and promoting licensing objectives.
Step 3: Obtain a DBS Certificate
Submit an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check issued within the last 28 days.
Step 4: Prepare Your Application
Compile the following documents for submission to your local Licensing Authority:
- Completed application form.
- APLH qualification certificate.
- Recent DBS certificate.
- Two passport-style photographs (one certified).
- Proof of right to work in the UK.
- Application fee (approximately £37).
Step 5: Submit and Await Approval
Once your application is submitted, the Licensing Authority will review and consult with police or immigration authorities if necessary. Upon approval, you will receive your personal licence, including:
- A personal licence card.
- A certificate of authorisation.
